SBU Men's Basketball Closes Out Home Portion of Schedule vs Pittsburg State

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist closes out the home portion of their schedule when they host Pittsburg State on Saturday.

The Coaches & The All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his second season on the SBU bench after coming off of a 11-18 (6-13 MIAA) record last season. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 193-119 across ten seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Kevin Muff enters his 6th season as the head coach at Pittsburg State. Muff holds a career coaching record of 76-67 after coming over to PSU from Cloud County CC where he spent 12 seasons as head coach.

Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Pittsburg State 33-28. The Bearcats claimed an 83-71 victory earlier this season in Pittsburg.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats are coming off of a 80-70 loss to Missouri Southern, and are now 10-15 (5-14 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring and rebounding by Logan Hovey who averages 15.1 ppg and 7.7 rpg, while Brian Patterson averages 12.3 ppg and 5.1 rpg. Cartier Dean averages 8.5 ppg, while Kai Woodfall averages 8.2 ppg and Kalehl Brown 7.4 ppg.

Scouting the Gorillas
Pittsburg State is coming off of an 74-72 victory at Central Missouri, and now stand at 15-11 (10-10 MIAA) on the season. PSU is led in scoring and rebounding by Josiah Gustafson who averages 16.3 ppg and 5.2 rpg. Trey Starks (16.0 ppg) and Dakota Jones (11.3 ppg) are also in double-figures for the Gorillas.
