Box Score 2 Bentonville, Ark. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in two neutral site contests on Saturday afternoon in Bentonville. The Bearcats fell to Illinois-Springfield 7-3 before losing to Southern Nazarene 9-0. At the conclusion of the day, SBU now stands at 3-7 on the season.
In the contest against Illinois-Springfield the Bearcats took a early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
Kori Hillenburg drew a two out walk and came home on an rbi single from
Joely Gage to give SBU the early lead. UIS responded with a five run fourth, but the Bearcats got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the fifth. Gage led the inning off with a solo homerun to centerfield, followed by a solo homerun by
Kelcee Welch to put SBU down 5-3. However, UIS would score two more runs as the Bearcats would eventually fall 7-3. In SBU's second game of the day the Bearcats fell 9-0 to Southern Nazarene.
With the cancelation of Sunday's games in Bentonville, the Bearcats will be back in action Saturday, February 20 when they host Rockhurst. Opening pitch of game one of the doubleheader is set for 1:00 p.m. from Bolivar, Missouri.
