Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist closes out their six-game homestand when they host Northeastern State on Saturday.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach
Kelsey Keizer in her third season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU to their first winning season in 9 years (16-13, 11-11 MIAA) last season. The 11 MIAA wins also marks the second most conference wins in program history. Coach Keizer holds a career coaching record of 27-31, including a 15-26 mark in the MIAA.
Randy Gipson begins his 18th season as the head coach at Northeastern State. Gipson holds a career coaching record of 599-261 across 28 years, including a 309-184 record while at Northeastern State.
The all-time series between Southwest Baptist and Northeastern State is tied 8-8. SBU claimed a 67-56 victory last season in Tahlequah, with NSU claiming the last meeting between the two teams in Bolivar 60-45 (2014-15).
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats enter the game aginst Northeastern State 6-2 (0-1 MIAA) and are coming off of a 73-61 loss to Central Oklahoma. SBU is led in scoring by
Megan Rosenbohm who is averaging 16.5 ppg while
Caylee Richardson averages 11.3 ppg, and a team high 6.1 rpg.
Alex Botkin dishes out a team high 3.3 apg, while
Mackenzie Skupa averages 9.4 ppg and
Aliyah Isaac 7.8 ppg. As a team SBU is out-rebounding their opponents by 13.0 rebounds per game.
Scouting the RiverHawks
Northeastern State enters the game against Southwest Baptist 2-6 (0-2 MIAA) on the season, and are coming off of a 72-53 loss to Central Oklahoma. NSU is led in scoring by Rylie Torrey who averages 17.3 ppg, while Cailyn Long averages 17.0 ppg. Mary Jane Buschmann is also in double-figures at 10.9 ppg to go along with a team high 7.3 rpg. The RiverHawks have only seven players who have appeared in at least 8 minutes per contest.
