Bolivar, Mo. -Â Southwest Baptist is set to open up MIAA play on Thursday when they host Central Oklahoma.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach
Kelsey Keizer in her third season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU to their first winning season in 9 years (16-13, 11-11 MIAA) last season. The 11 MIAA wins also marks the second most conference wins in program history. Coach Keizer holds a career coaching record of 27-31, including a 15-26 mark in the MIAA.
Guy Hardaker begins his 11th season as the head coach at Central Oklahoma. Hardaker holds a career coaching record of 183-112 and has led UCO to four NCAA Division II tournament appearances.
Central Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 7-6. The Bearcats picked up a 77-62 victory over Central Oklahoma last season in Edmond, but fell 72-65 in their last meeting in Bolivar during the 2014-15 season.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats is riding a four-game win streak entering MIAA play this week, and are now 6-1 on the season. SBU is led in scoring by
Megan Rosenbohm who is averaging 16.9 ppg while
Caylee Richardson averages 11.3 ppg, and a team high 5.7 rpg.
Alex Botkin dishes out a team high 3.6 apg, while
Mackenzie Skupa (8.7 ppg) and
Madison Strong (8.3 ppg) both average over 8 points a game. As a team SBU is out-rebounding their opponents by 14.9 rebounds per game.
Scouting the Bronchos
Central Oklahoma enters the game against Southwest Baptist 6-0 (2-0 MIAA) on the season. The Bronchos are ranked #10 in the latest D2SIDA WBB Central Region Media Poll. UCO is led in scoring by Melinda Murillo who averages 18.0 ppg, and a team high 3.3 apg. Olivia Mason averages 12.3 ppg and 9.2 rpg, while Blake Blessington and Jesheon Cooper both average 10.3 ppg. The Bronchos are holding opponents to only 58.3 ppg on the season.
