SBU Men's Basketball Hits the Road to Take on Central Missouri on Saturday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist hits the road for the final MIAA contest of the calendar year when they travel to Central Missouri on Saturday.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his third season on the SBU bench after compiling a 21-36 (11-30 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 203-137 across eleven seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Doug Karleskint begins his 3rd season as the head coach at Central Missouri. Karleskint holds a career coaching record of 128-56 across six seasons, including a 39-22 (22-19 MIAA) mark at Central Missouri.

Central Missouri leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 42-23. The Bearcats claimed a 76-70 victory in Bolivar the last time these teams met last season, but UCM earned a 70-64 victory earlier in the season in Warrensburg.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats come into the game at Central Missouri 6-3 (1-1 MIAA) and are coming off of a 65-53 victory over Northeastern State. SBU is led in scoring by Brian Patterson who averages 13.1 ppg and a team high 6.3 rpg, while Kai Woodfall is also in double-figures at 10.0 ppg and Logan Hovey averages 9.8 ppg. Cartree Pettis leads the Bearcats in assists with 3.8 apg to go along with 7.4 ppg. SBU presents a balanced scoring attack with six players averaging over seven points a piece.

Scouting the Mules
Central Missouri comes into the game against Southwest Baptist 6-2 (1-1 MIAA) on the season. The Mules are coming off of an 86-59 non-conference victory over MidAmerica Nazarene. UCM is led in scoring by Spencer Reaves who averages 17.9 ppg, while Kyle Wolf also averages double figures at 14.1 ppg. Marquiez Lawrence is the leading rebounder for the Mules with 5.8 rpg to go along with 9.0 ppg, while Erick Locke averages a team high 3.3 apg.
