SBU Women's Basketball to Host Defending National Champions on Thursday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist is set to host the defending NCAA Division II National Champion Lubbock Christian on Thursday as they are in the middle of a six-game homestand.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer in her third season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU to their first winning season in 9 years (16-13, 11-11 MIAA) last season. The 11 MIAA wins also marks the second most conference wins in program history. Coach Keizer holds a career coaching record of 27-31, including a 15-26 mark in the MIAA.

Steve Gomez begins his 11th season as the head coach at Lubbock Christian. Gomez led the Lady Chaps to the NCAA Division II National Title last season, and holds a career record of 234-96.

Thursday's meeting marks the first match-up between Southwest Baptist and Lubbock Christian.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats enter the game against Lubbock Christian 4-1 on the season, and are coming off of an 81-47 victory over Missouri Baptist. SBU is led in scoring by Megan Rosenbohm who is averaging 15.8 ppg while Madison Strong averages 13.0 ppg and Caylee Richardson averages 12.0 ppg. Richardson is also the leading rebounder for the Bearcats at 7.0 rpg, while Mackenzie Skupa pulls down 4.8 rpg to go along with 9.6 ppg.

Scouting the Lady Chaps
Lubbock Christian enters the contest against Southwest Baptist 4-3 on the season and are coming off of a 47-39 victory over Lenoir Rhyne. The Lady Chaps are receiving votes in the latest WBCA Coaches Poll. LCU is led in scoring, rebounding, and blocks by Tess Bruffey. Bruffey averages 12.0 ppg, 11.4 rpg, and 4.6 bpg. Bailey Haist is the next highest scorer for the Lady Chaps at 9.7 ppg.
