SBU Men's Basketball Continues Road Trip at Maryville on Friday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will continue their short two-game road trip when they travel to Maryville on Friday.

The Coaches & the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his third season on the SBU bench after compiling a 21-36 (11-30 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 203-137 across eleven seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Kevin Carroll begins his 7th season as the head coach at Maryville. Carroll has collected 78 wins across his first six seasons at the head coach.

Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Maryville 2-0. The Bearcats claimed a 68-63 victory over the Saints in Bolivar the last time these teams met during the 2014-15 season.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats come into the game against Maryville 1-2 on the season after falling 71-63 at #22 Drury on Tuesday. SBU is led in scoring by Cartier Dean who averages 11.3 ppg, while Logan Hovey (10.3 ppg) and Brian Patterson (10.0 ppg) are both in double figures. SBU presents a balanced scoring attack with seven different players averaging over 7.0 ppg this season. On the boards Louis Baltazar averages a team high 8.7 rpg, while Patterson also averages 5.7 rpg.

Scouting the Saints
Maryville comes into the contest against Southwest Baptist 0-3 on the season, after falling to Westminster College 73-71 on Tuesday. The Saints are led in scoring by Marvin Grant-Clark who averages 14.7 ppg, while Grant Sims (12.0 ppg), Forrester Sims (12.0 ppg), and Jeff Leeson (10.3 ppg) are all in double figures. Anthony Johnson pulls down a team high 5.3 rpg, while Grant Sims dishes out 3.3 assists per game.
