Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team forced a fifth set on Tuesday evening in Bolivar against Missouri Southern, but would ultimately fall 3-2 in the contest. With the loss SBU drops to 3-15 (0-5 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats jumped ahead early, taking the first set 25-20 before dropping the second and third sets 25-19 each. SBU came back to take the fourth set 25-21 before dropping the fifth set 15-10.
Southwest Baptist was led by
Kalyn Sotomayor who produced a game high 18.0 points (15 kills, 7 total blocks) while
Dana Neal had 17.5 points (15 kills, 2 aces, 1 block).
Katie Robinson had a team high 8 blocks, while
Leah Rader gave SBU a career high 20 digs. Neal and
Bailey Baumann both had 14 digs a piece, while
Serena Mar had a team high 23 assists. Double-doubles went to Mar (23 assists, 13 digs) and Neal (15 kills, 14 digs).
SBU will return to action on Friday, October 7 when they travel to Pittsburg State. Play is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. from John Lance Arena in Pittsburg, Kansas.
