Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist is set to host Washburn to close out their short two-game homestand.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his second season on the SBU bench after coming off of a 11-18 (6-13 MIAA) record last season. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 193-119 across ten seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Bob Chipman begins his 37th season as the head coach at Washburn. Chipman holds a career coaching record of 773-330, while his win percentage is the 10th best among all NCAA Division II coaches who have coached at least 5 years.
Washburn leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 35-16. The Ichabods claimed a 59-57 victory over the Bearcats earlier this season in Topeka.
Scouting the BearcatsThe Bearcats are coming off of a tough 68-64 loss to Emporia State, and are now 8-11 (3-10 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring and rebounding by
Logan Hovey who averages 14.6 ppg and 7.5 rpg, while
Brian Patterson averages 12.5 ppg and 5.3 rpg.
Cartier Dean averages 8.1 ppg, while
Kai Woodfall 7.1 ppg, and
Nate Nahirny 6.4 ppg.
Scouting the IchabodsWashburn enters the contest against Southwest Baptist 12-6 (8-5 MIAA) on the season. The Ichabods are coming off of a 58-56 road victory over Central Missouri. WU is led in scoring by Cameron Wiggins who is averaging 13.5 ppg, while Javion Blake (13.4 ppg) and Randall Smith (11.2 ppg) are both in double figures. Brady Skeens averages a team high 9.7 rpg to go along with 9.3 ppg.
