Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will continue their road swing on Saturday when they travel to Northeastern State to take on the RiverHawks.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his second season on the SBU bench after coming off of a 11-18 (6-13 MIAA) record last season. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 193-119 across ten seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Jason Tinsley enters his 2nd season as the head coach at Northeastern State. Tinsley holds a career coaching record of 7-20 on the men's side, and holds a collegiate coaching record of 170-171 on both sides.
Northeastern State leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 11-4. The Bearcats claimed last year's meeting 79-68 in Bolivar, and lead the series 2-1 since NSU joined the MIAA in the 2012-13 season.
Scouting the BearcatsThe Bearcats are coming off of a 80-69 loss at Central Oklahoma, and are now 8-9 (3-8 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by
Logan Hovey who averages 14.1 ppg and 8.1 rpg, while
Brian Patterson averages 12.9 ppg and 5.5 rpg.
Cartier Dean averages 7.5 ppg, while
Nate Nahirny averages 6.9 ppg and
Kai Woodfall 6.5 ppg.
Scouting the RiverHawksNortheastern State comes into the game against Southwest Baptist 4-12 (3-9 MIAA) on the season. The RiverHawks are coming off of a 70-61 loss to Central Missouri their last time out, and have lost three straight. NSU is led in scoring and rebounding by Dakota Caudill who averages 13.7 ppg and 5.6 rpg, while Trey Mohair is also in double-figures at 13.0 ppg and a team high 4.2 apg.
