Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will hit the road on Thursday for a short two-game road trip when they travel to Central Oklahoma.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his second season on the SBU bench after coming off of a 11-18 (6-13 MIAA) record last season. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 193-119 across ten seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Tom Hankins enters his 1st season as the head coach at Central Oklahoma. Hankins comes to UCO after spending the previous 18 years as a Division I assistant coach at Oral Roberts and Southern Illinois-Carbondale.
Central Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 7-4. The Bronchos claimed last year's meeting 73-61 in Bolivar, and have won six straight against SBU.
Scouting the BearcatsThe Bearcats are coming off of a 68-47 loss to Lindenwood, and are now 8-8 (3-7 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by
Logan Hovey who averages 13.9 ppg and 8.1 rpg, while
Brian Patterson averages 13.5 ppg and 5.7 rpg.
Cartier Dean averages 8.0 ppg, while
Nate Nahirny averages 6.5 ppg and
Kai Woodfall 6.4 ppg.
Scouting the BronchosCentral Oklahoma comes into the game against Southwest Baptist 8-9 (4-7 MIAA) on the season. The Bronchos are coming off of a 91-74 loss at Fort Hays State their last time out, but have won three of their last four. UCO is led in scoring by Cornell Neal who averages 13.8 ppg to go along with 3.6 apg, while Kendahl Amerson is also in double-figures at 12.7 ppg. Garen Wright averages 9.9 ppg and a team high 5.7 rpg.
