Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will close out their short two-game homestand on Saturday when they host Lindenwood.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his second season on the SBU bench after coming off of a 11-18 (6-13 MIAA) record last season. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 193-119 across ten seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Lance Randall enters his 1st season as the head coach at Lindenwood. Randall comes to Lindenwood from St. Leo, where he compiled a record of 78-44 with three NCAA Division II Tournament appearances.
Lindenwood leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 4-3. The Lions claimed a 93-46 victory the last time these teams played, and a 73-66 victory in Bolivar.
Scouting the BearcatsThe Bearcats are coming off of a 75-49 loss to Lincoln, and are now 8-7 (3-6 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by
Brian Patterson who averages 14.3 ppg and 5.9 rpg, while
Logan Hovey averages just short of a double-double at 13.7 ppg and 8.3 rpg.
Cartier Dean averages 8.3 ppg, while
Nate Nahirny averages 6.5 ppg and
Kai Woodfall 6.4 ppg. SBU is outrebounding their opponents by just under 8 rebounds per game (37.3 rpg to 29.5 rpg).
Scouting the LionsLindenwood is coming into the game against Southwest Baptist 11-5 (7-3 MIAA) on the season. The Lions are coming off of a 54-41 loss at Central Missouri their last time out. Lindenwood is led in scoring by Cory Arentsen who is averaging 20.9 ppg and 6.6 rpg. Brad Newman is also in double figures at 11.9 ppg while Stanislas Heili averages 10.4 ppg and a team high 9.1 rpg.
