Box Score Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team fell to Augustana to open up the 2015 season on Friday night, 5-1.
The Bearcats were the first to strike when
Averi Walker took a pass from
Taylor Schmidt and put it in the back of the net to give SBU a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute of play. However, Augustana responded right back with a goal of their own in the 18th minute to tie the contest up 1-1.
The Vikings would add goals in the 24th and 37th minute, as the Bearcats went into the break trailing 3-1. In the second half, Augustana added two more goals, as Southwest Baptist would eventually fall 5-1.
SBU will quickly return to action on Sunday, September 6 when they play Northern State University. Play is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
