Box Score 2 Evansville, Ind. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team opened up their 2015 season by going 1-1 in the opening day of the Dunn Hospitality Invitational. The Bearcats took down Kentucky Wesleyan 3-0 to start the day off, but fell to #6 Wayne State 3-0.
In the first game of the day, the Bearcats cruised to a three-set victory by taking the first set 25-19, the second 25-14, and the final set 25-16.
Taryn Marton led the way for SBU with 16 kills, while
Anna Stuehm had 30 assists, and
Bailey Baumann led the way defensively with 7 digs. In SBU's 3-0 loss to #6 Wayne State, Marton was also in double-digit kills with 10, while Stuehm had 19 assists, and
Hannah Blount collected 19 digs.
The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, September 5 for the final day of the Dunn Hospitality Invitational. The Bearcats will take on Northwood University at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 7:00 p.m. match with host school Southern Indiana.
