Karla Jamison Scores MIAA Leading 7th Goal of Season in 2-1 Win over FHSU

Hays, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team won their fourth straight contest on Friday evening, defeating Fort Hays State 2-1. With the victory, SBU improves to 4-3 (1-0 MIAA) on the season.

The Bearcats were the first to strike in the 19th minute when Kate Jamison found Karla Jamison 18 yards out where Karla Jamison beat the keeper and placed the ball in the bottom right corner of the net to give SBU a 1-0 lead. Southwest Baptist added another goal in the 25th minute when Fort Hays headed an SBU corner kick into their own net, giving SBU an own goal, and extending the Bearcat lead to 2-0. FHSU would respond in the 40th minute with a goal of their own, as SBU took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

In the second half, both teams were perfect, as neither team let in a goal which secured the 2-1 SBU victory. In goal Cheyenne Forshey picked up the win for the Bearcats while collecting 4 saves.

The Bearcats will return to action on Sunday, September 27 when they travel to Nebraska-Kearney. Play is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. from Kearney, Nebraska.
