Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team picked up a big regional win over Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon, taking down the Bronchos 2-1. With the victory, the Bearcats improve to 3-3 on the season.
In a tight defensive battle, Central Oklahoma struck first in the 15th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The Bearcats responded in the 29th minute when
Whitney Snow hit a shot off the post, followed by a shot from
Karla Jamison, which the keeper saved, but
Elin Hammar took the rebound and placed it into the bottom corner of the net to tie the contest up at 1-1. Neither team would score again in the first period, going into the break tied up at 1-1. In the second period both teams and keepers had strong halves, with neither team scoring until the final minutes of the contest. With only 1:03 left in regulation, the Bearcats had a 3 on 1 break, where Jamison found
Caroline Karlsson who beat the goalie one on one, to give SBU the game winning goal with the final scoring coming at 2-1.
SBU will open up MIAA play on Friday, September 26 when they travel to Fort Hays State. Play is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. from Hays, Kansas.
