Box Score Liberty, Mo. - For the third straight contest the Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team received a goal from
Garrett Gibson, but it wasn't enough as the Bearcats fell on the road to William Jewell on Tuesday evening. After the loss, SBU now stands at 0-5 on the season.
The Bearcats jumped ahead early in the 10th minute of play when Jewell was called for a hand ball in the box, giving SBU a penalty kick. Gibson took full advance of the penalty kick, beating the WJC goalie, and putting SBU up 1-0. However, William Jewell quickly responded in the 14th minute, tying the contest up, and would take the lead in the 17th minute. Jewell added two more goals in the half as SBU went into the break trailing 4-1. Neither team got on the scoreboard in the second half as the Bearcats would eventually fall 4-1 in the contest.
SBU will return to action on Thursday, September 17 when they host Harding. Play is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
