Box Score 2 Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team fell in a pair of tough contests at the Augustana Tournament on Saturday. The Bearcats fell to Augustana 3-0 before dropping a 3-2 contest to Minnesota Crookston and are now standing at 1-7 on the season.
In the first contest of the day against Augustana, the Bearcats dropped set one 25-20, set two 25-19, and set three 25-20.
Anna Stuehm led the way for SBU with a double-double recording 23 assists and 12 digs, while
Hannah Blount had a team high 17 digs and
Bailey Baumann added 10 digs in the loss.
In the second game of the day, SBU and Minnesota Crookston went back-and-forth. SBU fell in the first set 25-20 before coming back to take set two 25-21. Minnesota Crookston claimed set three 25-19 before SBU took set four 25-23, but Minnesota Crookston took the fifth set 15-12 as SBU fell 3-2.
Payton White picked up a team high 12 kills to lead SBU. Stuehm had a team high 23 assists, while
Brea Freeman added 13 assists. Defensively Blount led the way with 16 digs, while
Taryn Marton added 15 digs, and
Katy Fitzpatrick chipped in 10.
SBU will return to action on Saturday, September 19 when they take on Bellarmine and #17 Rockhurst. Play from Kansas City, Missouri is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
