SBU Women's Soccer Opens up 2015 Season in South Dakota This Weekend

Bolivar, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats will open up the 2015 season in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where they will take on Augustana and Northern State.

The Coaches
Megan Link will begin her first season as the head coach at Southwest Baptist after taking over a program which advanced to the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons. Link came to SBU after coaching one season at Quincy.

Brandon Barkus is in his 10th season as head coach at Augustana and has a career coaching record of 81-76-15.  Barkus led the Vikings to a 14-6 record last season, including an NCAA tournament berth.

Steve Kehm is in his 18th season as head coach at Northern State and holds a career coaching record of 168-134-34.

Scouting the Opponents
Augustana went 14-6 (12-3 NSIC) last season, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the past 10 years. The Vikings season ended with a 1-0 loss to Central Oklahoma in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Last season, Augustana defeated the Bearcats 5-2 in Warrensburg, Missouri.

In 2014, Northern State finished the season with a 6-11-1 (5-9-1 NSIC) record. The Wolves had picked up victories in both of he exhibition contests, and will face off against Spring Hill College prior to playing Southwest Baptist on Sunday.
