Surprise, Ariz. - For the first time in program history, the Southwest Baptist University women's tennis team has advanced to the NCAA Final 4 with a 5-4 victory over #14 Midwestern State. With the win, the Bearcats improve to 25-2 on the season.

The Bearcats and Mustangs had a back-and-forth match, which is to be expected after earlier this season Southwest Baptist claimed a tight 5-4 victory. MWSU jumped ahead 1-0 after claiming #3 doubles before Fanni Varga/Christina Zentai and Maria Josie Zehnder/Lani Tuemmers both picked up doubles victories to give SBU a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play. Midwestern State quickly tied the contest up by taking #4 singles before SBU rolled off victories from Varga (#1 singles) and Zentai (#2 singles). The Mustangs responded again, taking #5 and #6 singles to even the contest at 4-4. However, Zehnder picked up a straight sets victory at #3 singles to give SBU the 5-4 victory.

Southwest Baptist now advances to the NCAA Semi-Finals where they will take on #1 Armstrong State. Play is set to begin at 3:00pm CST from Surprise, Arizona.
