Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team earned a big double-header sweep over Lincoln on Saturday afternoon, claiming an 8-0 game one victory followed by a 2-0 game two win. After the sweep, the Bearcats now stand at 22-27 (11-15 MIAA) on the season.

In game one, SBU quickly jumped out to a lead in the bottom of the first inning. Catlin Evans led the inning off with a double to left center, and came home two batters later on an rbi single through the left side to put SBU up 1-0 after one. The Bearcats then plated two runs, one off of an LU wild pitch and the other off of an LU error, to take a 3-0 lead through two innings of play. The score remained 3-0 until the bottom of the sixth where SBU opened the contest up.

Tyler Hernandez led the inning off with a single to left field, followed by a Hailey Turner single to left. Evans then hit an rbi double down the left field line, followed by a Stef Lischke pinch hit three-run homerun to put SBU up 7-0. Brittanie Halquist drew a walk, followed by a Caitlyn Cooner single, to set up the game winning run off of another LU error as SBU run-ruled the Blue Tigers 8-0 in game one. Kyra Parker threw a complete game shutout for SBU, throwing 6.0 innings while allowing only four hits and six strikeouts.

In game two Kacey Ayers remained in complete control, mowing down the Blue Tigers lineup. In the bottom of the first, the Bearcats loaded the bases on a Evans double, Cooner walk, and Dana Graves walk before Stormy Christerson hit an rbi single to left field to put SBU up 1-0. Christerson added another rbi single in the bottom of the third, extending the lead to 2-0, which was more than enough for Ayers. After five innings of play, Ayers had held the Blue Tigers to one hit while collecting 13 strikeouts. In the end, Ayers picked up a career high 14 k's as she claimed the complete game victory.

SBU will return to action on Tuesday, April 28 when they travel to Rogers State University for their final games of the 2015 season. Opening pitch of game one of the double-header is set for 3:00 p.m. from Claremore, Oklahoma.
