College City, Ark. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team earned a double-header split against Williams Baptist on Tuesday afternoon, taking game one 2-1 before falling 6-5 in game two. At the conclusion of the day, SBU now stands at 19-26 on the season.
In game one Southwest Baptist once again rode a strong pitching effort from
Kacey Ayers who threw a complete game, allowing only one run to go along with five strikeouts in the 2-1 victory. Williams Baptist was the first to strike in the bottom of the fourth inning, taking a 1-0 lead, and would hold a lead until the top of the 7th. In the top of the 7th,

In game two Southwest Baptist and Williams Baptist had a back-and-forth battle, with each team responding to the other's scores. In the end, the Bearcats would come up just short in a 6-5 loss despite rbi's from
Stormy Christerson,
Dana Graves, and
Addie Murders with
Caitlyn Cooner had SBU's only mult-hit effort on the day.
The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, April 24 when they host Lindenwood. Opening pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. from the SBU Softball Field in Bolivar.
