SBU Baseball Finishes Series with 4-2 Loss at Northeastern State

Tahlequah, Okla. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team finished off their four-game series against Northeastern State with a 4-2 loss on Monday afternoon. The Bearcats conlcude the series against the RiverHawks with a 4-9 (1-7 MIAA) record on the season.

The Bearcats and RiverHawks played to a scoreless tie through the first three innings of Monday's game before NSU scored a run in the fourth, and another in the fifth, as SBU trailed 2-0 through five. SBU got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh beginning with a Jake Vore single, Caleb Sneed walk, and Chance Wolfe single to load the bases with one out. Zach Snodgrass then had an rbi groundout to cut the lead down to one (2-1) as they head into the eighth.

In the top half of the eighth, the Bearcats led the inning off with back-to-back singles from Christian Binger and Ross Wolfe, but were unable to plate either runners. NSU responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning before SBU struck again in the ninth. Back-to-back singles from Sneed and Chance Wolfe put runners on the corners when Snodgrass grounded into an rbi fielder's choice to make the score 4-2. However, SBU was unable to put another run on the board as they would end up falling 4-2.

The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, March 12 when they host Central Missouri to open up a four-game series. The single nine inning game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
