Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team rode solid pitching to a double-header sweep over College of the Ozarks on Tuesday. The Bearcats picked up a 9-2 game one victory followed by a 3-2 game two victory to improve to 12-16 on the season.

In game one the Bearcats got the scoring started early, taking a 1-0 lead through the first inning of play. Chance Wolfe led the inning off with an infield single, and was brought home a couple of batters later when Ross Wolfe singled to right field to give SBU a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats added to their lead in the second when Zach Snodgrass led the inning off with a walk, stole second, and came home on an rbi single from Cory Canterbury to give the Bearcats a 2-0.

After CofO tied the contest up in the top of the third, the Bearcats responded right back in the bottom half of the inning. With Christian Binger on first, Ross Wolfe tripled down the right field line to put SBU up 3-0. The Bearcats continued to push in the fourth, adding three runs to their lead. With the bases loaded, Binger singled through the right side, scoring two, and a Spencer Blacksher sacrifice fly put SBU up 6-2. SBU added three more runs in the fifth, off of an rbi single from Canterbury, a sacrifice fly from Trevor Bowling, and an rbi double from Chance Wolfe, as the Bearcats cruised to a 9-2 victory. Cole Roark threw an outstanding game on the mound, throwing a complete game while allowing two runs with six strikeouts in the victory.

In game two the Bearcats were the first to strike in the second inning. With two outs, Snodgrass singled to right, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and came home on a Canterbury single to put SBU up 1-0. SBU added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth, taking a 3-0 advantage. With runners on first and second, Binger singled through the right side, scoring Caleb Sneed, followed by an rbi single to centerfield by Blacksher to gave the Bearcats a 3-0 lead.

CofO plated two runs in the sixth inning, fueled by an SBU error, before the Bearcats were able to shut the door and claim a 3-2 victory. Luke Lucas had an impressive showing in his first start of the season, throwing 5.2 innings while allowing zero earned runs. Sam Vergara came on to close in the seventh, picking up his fifth save of the season.

SBU will return to action on Friday, April 3 when they host Pittsburg State in a double-header. Opening pitch for game one is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
