Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in a non-conference double-header against Central Missouri on Saturday afternoon. SBU dropped game one 3-2 before falling in game two 5-3. After the day, SBU now stands at 11-18 on the season.

In game one UCM took a 1-0 lead in the third inning before the Bearcats responded in the bottom of the fourth. SBU started the inning off with back-to-back singles from Catlin Evans and Rachel Ray, and after one baserunner was caught stealing, Caitlyn Cooner blasted a two-run homerun to give the Bearcats a 2-1 lead. However, the Jennies hung around, and used a two-run seventh to defeat SBU in game one 3-2.

In game two the Jennies jumped out to an early 3-0 lead three inning in to the game. In the fourth, the Bearcats loaded the bases off of a Stormy Christerson single followed by a pair of walks before Evans singled to right field to plate a pair of runners as the Bearcats trailed 3-2 heading into the fifth. UCM promptly responded with two runs in the fifth, extending their lead to 5-2. The Bearcats got another run back in the sixth, off of an rbi single from Cooner, but it wasn't enough as SBU fell 5-3 in the second game of the day.

SBU will return to action on Tuesday, March 31 when they travel to Missouri Southern for a double-header against the Lions. Opening pitch of game one is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. from Joplin, Missouri.
