Box Score 2 St. Joseph, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in a tough double-header at Missouri Western, losing 1-0 in the first game and 10-1 in the second.
In game one
Kacey Ayers threw a strong game for the Bearcats, throwing a complete game while scattering six hits and allowing only one run. However, the SBU offense was unable to get on the scoreboard, with a pair of hits and three walks, as the Bearcats would end up falling 1-0 in game one.
In the second game of the day the Bearcats fell behind early, fueled by a defensive error, as SBU allowed 7 runs in the first inning. SBU got on the scoreboard in the top of the second when
Emily Davis hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring
Brittanie Halquist, but the Bearcats were unable to plate another run as SBU fell 10-1 in game two.
The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, March 19 when they travel to Central Methodist for a double-header. Opening pitch of game one is set for 3:00 p.m. from Fayette, Missouri.
