Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell to Central Missouri in a double-header on Saturday afternoon in Bolivar. The Bearcats dropped the first game 6-1 before falling in game two 11-6.

In game one Central Missouri jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, and added four more runs in the second, as they lead 6-0 after two innings of play. Evan Stransky came in for relief in the top of the second, shutting down the Mules for the next five innings to help keep the Bearcats in the contest. Stransky threw 4.1 innings on the day allowing four baserunners with a pair of strikeouts. SBU got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth when Cory Canterbury hit a solo homerun to right field to cut the deficit down to five at 6-1, but it wasn't enough as the Bearcats fell 6-1 in game one.

In game two the Bearcats once again fell behind in the first, allowing three runs (one earned) as SBU trailed heading into the bottom of the third. With two outs in the third, Christian Binger drew a walk followed by an rbi triple from Ross Wolfe to make the score 3-1. UCM responded with a run in the top of the fourth, but the Bearcats gained more ground in the bottom half of the inning. Jake Vore led the inning off with a solo homerun to left field before Canterbury doubled down the left field line to score Trevor Bowling as SBU trailed 4-3. After UCM extended their lead to 6-3, fueled once again by SBU errors, the Bearcats got one back in the bottom of the fifth when Vore singled home Ross Wolfe. SBU then used a bases single from Ross Wolfe to plate to SBU runners as the Bearcats tied the game up against the Mules 6-6. However, UCM would go on the score the next five runs of the game as SBU fell 11-6 in game two.

SBU will return to action on Tuesday, March 17 when they travel to Drury for a single nine-inning contest against the Panthers. Opening pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. from Springfield, Missouri.
