Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team returns to MIAA action, and closes out a five game homestand, when they host Central Missouri on Thursday.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Kelsey Keizer is in her first season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Keizer has spent the past three years as the assistant at Southwest Baptist after playing collegiately for Division I Drake.
Dave Slifer begins his 11th season as the head coach at Central Missouri. Slifer holds a career coaching record of 579-201 while going 195-102 at UCM. Slifer was also named WBCA Central Region Coach of the Year following the 2012-13 season.
Central Missouri leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 50-12. The Jennies claimed a 78-70 victory over SBU last season in Bolivar.
Scouting the BearcatsSouthwest Baptist is coming off of a 73-58 non-conference victory over Harris-Stowe State, and are now 8-12 (3-9 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by
Dilonna Johnson who averages 10.9 ppg and a team high 3.3 apg, while
Megan Rosenbohm averages 9.3 points per game off of the bench.
Leann Terrill also averages 8.6 ppg while
Sarah Magana averages 5.2 ppg and a team high 4.8 rpg.
Scouting the JenniesCentral Missouri heads into the game against Southwest Baptist with a 12-8 (6-6 MIAA) record on the season. The Jennies are coming off of a 71-65 road loss to Missouri Southern, and have lost four of their last five games. UCM is led scoring by Shelby Winkelmann who averages 15.9 ppg to go along with a team high 2.5 apg. The Jennies also have three other players averaging double-figures in Jasmine Thompson (13.2 ppg), Justina Prairie Chief (12.9 ppg), and Revonnia Howard (12.1 ppg).
