Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team had a strong performance to close out the home portion of the schedule with a 67-47 win over Northwest Missouri. With the victory, the Bearcats improve to 9-17 (4-14 MIAA).
Two minutes into the opening half Southwest Baptist trailed 4-1 to the visiting Northwest Missouri Bearcats. SBU used a 8-0, fueled by a pair of three's from
Dilonna Johnson, to take a five point lead before growing their lead to nine (17-8) with 13:12 left in the half. Southwest Baptist quickly pushed their lead to double-digits, and slowly built their lead up to 16 (33-17) after a
Natalie O'Keefe layup with 4:09 left in the half. SBU would cruise into the break leading 40-24.
In the second half
Leann Terrill opened up play with a three and a layup to push SBU's lead to 21 (45-24) with 17:03 to go. After holding strong for the next five minutes, Northwest Missouri used a small 9-2 run to cut the SBU lead down to 13 (54-41). The Bearcats promptly responded with a 7-0 run to push their lead back to 20 with 2:33 to go as SBU cruised to a 67-47 victory.
Leann Terrill led the way for SBU with 19 points and a team high 7 rebounds, while
Megan Rosenbohm added 15 points and
Dilonna Johnson also had 10 points in the victory. As a team, SBU shot 49.0% from the field, 44.4% from beyond the arc, and 81.8% from the free throw line.
The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, February 28 when they travel to Missouri Western for the final regular season game of the 2014-15 season. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. from St. Joseph, Missouri.
