SBU Men Host Northwest to Close Out Regular Season Home Schedule

Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats return home on Thursday for their final home contest of the 2014-15 season when they host Northwest Missouri.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his first season on the SBU bench after coming to the Bearcats from John Brown University. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 182-106 across nine seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Ben McCollum is in his 6th year as the head coach at Northwest Missouri. McCollum led NWMSU to two MIAA regular season championships and one NCAA Elite Eight appearance during his tenure.

Northwest Missouri leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 38-19. NWMSU claimed a 77-73 overtime victory over SBU earlier this season in Maryville.

Scouting Southwest Baptist
The Bearcats are coming off of 71-67 road loss to Central Missouri, and are now 11-15 (6-11 MIAA) on the season. Southwest Baptist is led in scoring by Menas Stephens who averages a double-double at 11.9 points per game and an MIAA high 10.4 rebounds per game. Daymond Cowlah also averages 10.3 points per game to go along with 2.7 assists per game, while Derrick Stewart averages 8.9 points per game, Finn Delany averages 7.2 points per game, Quniton Smith averages 7.0 points per game, and Patrick Burke averages 6.0 points per game.

Scouting Northwest Missouri
Northwest Missouri enters the game against Southwest Baptist with a 20-5 (13-4 MIAA) record on the season. The Bearcats are coming off of a 72-54 victory over Missouri Western and have won seven in a row. NWMSU is led in scoring by Justin Pitts who is averaging 16.2 ppg and 3.4 apg. Also in double-figures for Northwest are Conner Crooker (14.7 ppg), Zach Schneider (11.8 ppg), and Grant Cozad (11.6 ppg).
