SBU Men’s Basketball hopes to continue win streak against #16 Central Missouri

Warrensburg, Mo. - The Bearcats hit the road on Saturday to play #16 Central Missouri at the UCM Multipurpose Building.
 


The Coaches and the All-Time Series

SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his first season on the SBU bench after coming to the Bearcats from John Brown University. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 182-106 across nine seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Doug Karleskint enters into his first year as the head coach at Central Missouri after spending the previous four seasons at Arkansas Tech. Karleskint holds a career coaching record of 90-34 heading into his 5th year as a head coach.

Central Missouri leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 40-22. The Mules claimed a 67-64 victory in OT over SBU in Bolivar this season.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats are coming off of 74-61 win versus Missouri Southern, and are now 11-14 (6-10 MIAA) on the season. Southwest Baptist is led in scoring by Menas Stephens who averages a double-double at 12 points per game and an MIAA high 10.5 rebounds per game. Daymond Cowlah also averages 10 points per game to go along with 2.6 assists per game, while Derrick Stewart averages 8.6 points per game, Finn Delany averages 9 points per game, Quniton Smith averages 5.9 points per game, and Robert Shaw averages 5.4 points per game.

Scouting the Mules
Central Missouri enters into the game against Southwest Baptist with a 21-4 (12-4 MIAA) record on the season. The Mules are coming off of a five game winning streak after a 58-53 win against Lindenwood. UCM is led in scoring by Rakeem Dickerson who is averaging 12.4 ppg and 4.2 apg. TJ White is also a leading scorer for the Mules with 9.8 ppg and a team high 6.5 rpg, while Brennen Hughes averages 9.5 ppg.
