Megan Rosenbohm Has Career High 20 Points in 58-55 Loss to Missouri Southern

Joplin, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team fell to Missouri Southern on Wednesday evening 58-55. With the loss the Bearcats drop to 8-16 (3-13 MIAA) on the season.

The Lions took off quickly in the first half with a 10-0 lead but after a layup by Ashlee Pitts, the Bearcats went on a 8-2 run to catch up 8-12 with 11:45 left. SBU and MSSU played a close contest the rest of the half, with Mackenzie Skupa tying up the score 16-16 with a layup at 6:50 left in the half. Dilonna Johnson made a jump shot with 1:54 left in the half to keep the Bearcats close, trailing by 6 points going in to the second half down 22-28.

SBU played hard in the second half never trailing by more than 11 points. Megan Rosenbohm stole the ball at 14:27 which fueled an incredible run scoring 11 points ending with a free throw at 10:38 to bring the Bearcats to 37-38. It was a nail biting game the rest of the half with the Bearcats many times only trailing by two to three points. SBU took the lead with only 49 seconds left in the half with a strong 3-point play by Rosenbohm. However, the Lions came back with a layup with only 28 seconds left and the Bearcats were forced to foul as the Bearcats fell to MSSU 58-55.
 
Megan Rosenbohm came off the bench to have a career high of 20 points to go along with 3 steals. Mackenzie Skupa had a solid game of 11 points while Dilonna Johnson added 6 points and 4 assists in the loss. As a team SBU shot 46% from the field, 20% from beyond the arc, and 54.5% from the free throw line.

The Bearcats will hit the road on Saturday, February 21 when they travel to Central Missouri. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. from Warrensburg, Missouri.
