SBU Men's Basketball Set to take on Missouri Southern on Wednesday

Joplin, Mo. - The Bearcats are on the road Saturday against Missouri Southern State University on Robert Corn Court inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
 

The Coaches and the All-Time Series

SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his first season on the SBU bench after coming to the Bearcats from John Brown University. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 182-106 across nine seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Jeff Boschee enters into his first year as the head coach at Missouri Southern after serving four seasons as an assistant and associate head coach.

Missouri Southern leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 49-41. The last time MSSU and SBU met, the Lions narrowly claimed a 68-65 victory this season in Bolivar.
 
Scouting the Bearcats

The Bearcats are coming off of 89-66 win versus Lincoln, and are now 10-14 (5-10 MIAA) on the season. Southwest Baptist is led in scoring by Menas Stephens who averages a double-double at 12 points per game and an MIAA high 10.5 rebounds per game. Daymond Cowlah also averages 10 points per game to go along with 2.6 assists per game, while Derrick Stewart averages 8.6 points per game, Finn Delany averages 9 points per game, Quniton Smith averages 5.9 points per game, and Robert Shaw averages 5.4 points per game.


Scouting the Lions

Missouri Southern State University enters into the game against Southwest Baptist with a 15-9 (9-6 MIAA) record on the season. The Lions are coming off of a 83-77 win over Missouri Western. MSSU is led in scoring by Taevaunn Prince who is averaging 15.6 ppg and 6.9 rpg. Lane Barlow is also a leading scorer for the Lions with 11.5 ppg and a team high 3.5 apg, while Cameron Cornelius averages 11.4 ppg.
