SBU Women's Basketball Falls to Lincoln 61-48

Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team fell to Lincoln on Saturday afternoon 61-48. With the loss the Bearcats drop to 8-15 (3-12 MIAA) on the season.

The Bearcats and Blue Tigers played a tight contest for a majority of the first half, but Lincoln started to build up some momentum nearly nine minutes into the contest. After a Dilonna Johnson old fashioned three point play, the Blue Tigers went on a 7-0 run to go up 13-8 with 10:52 left in the first half. The Bearcats cut the lead back down to two, and after a couple of back-and-forth baskets, the Bearcats found themselves down 18-15 with 3:49 left in the first half. The Blue Tigers then used a 10-0 run to quickly push the SBU deficit to double-figures as the Bearcats went into the break trailing 30-17.

In the second half Lincoln continued to hold a double-digit lead, as the Bearcats fell behind by as many as 21 points. After trailing 52-32 with 8:38 to go in the contest, the Bearcats started sinking shots, going on a 12-2 run to cut the deficit down to 10. However, time was not on the Bearcats side as they were forced to foul and were unable to complete the comeback as SBU fell 61-48.

Leann Terrill led the way offensively for the Bearcats on the afternoon, scoring a team high 19 points while Dilonna Johnson added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the loss. As a team SBU shot 27.1% from the field, 21.7% from beyond the arc, and 84.6% from the free throw line.

The Bearcats will hit the road on Wednesday, February 18 when they travel to Missouri Southern. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from Joplin, Missouri.
