Bentonville, Ark. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team completed a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Rockhurst, 9-8, on Friday before falling to Southern Nazarene 3-2 in the afternoon. After splitting the day, the Bearcats stand at 3-4 on the season.

In SBU's 9-8 win over Rockhurst, the Hawks jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the first, one in the second, and four in the third to take an 8-0 lead over SBU heading into the bottom of the fourth. The Bearcats responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth, and then exploded for six more runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game up at 8-8. The game would remain tied, and force extra innings, when the Bearcats finished off the Hawks in the bottom of the 9th to claim a 9-8 victory. Dana Graves and Brittanie Halquist both hit homeruns for the Bearcats as they collected 14 hits in the game. Earning the victory in the circle was Kacey Ayers who picked up the win after picking one scoreless inning of relief.

In the second game of the day, the Bearcats were set to take on Southern Nazarene. SNU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after the first inning of play, but the Bearcats broke onto the scoreboard in the second. Caitlyn Cooner led the inning off with a single down the left field line, and was brought home by Hailey Turner when she hit a two-run homerun to left center to put SBU up 2-1. However, Southern Nazarene tied the game up in the top of the fifth, and scored the game winning run in the top of the seventh as the Bearcats fell in game two 3-2.

SBU will return to action on Saturday, February 14 when they take on Upper Iowa (9:00 AM) and Ouachita Baptist (11:00 AM) from Bentonville, Arkansas.
