Leann Terrill Scores Career High 22 in 89-76 Loss at Lindenwood

St. Charles, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team fell on the road to Lindenwood on Wednesday evening 89-76. With the loss the Bearcats fall to 8-14 (3-11 MIAA) on the season.

The Bearcats started the contest strong against Lindenwood, with SBU taking a 7-2 lead off of five early points from Leann Terrill. Lindenwood came back on a 9-0 run to take a four point lead before SBU used an 11-2 run to put themselves back up 18-13 with 11:47 left in the first half. SBU continued to push, taking an 8 point lead off of a Mackenzie Skupa layup with 9:30 left in the first half. However, Lindenwood slowly started to chip away at the lead, as the Bearcats would eventually go into the half trailing 38-33.

In the second half Lindenwood continued to extend their lead against the Bearcats, starting the half off on a 9-2 run as the Bearcats trailed 47-35 with 16:41 to go in the contest. For the remainder of the contest the Bearcats held steady with the Lions, but were unable to overcome the deficit as they fell 89-76.

Leann Terrill led the way for the Bearcats with a career high 22 points while hitting four three's on the evening. Dilonna Johnson added 15 points while Alexis Edwards had 14 points, on a perfect 7-7 from the field, and Mackenzie Skupa added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the loss. As a team SBU shot 39.5% from the field, 31.6% from beyond the arc, and 71.4% from the free throw line.

SBU will be back in action on Saturday, February 14 when they host Lincoln. Senior day is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
