SBU Women's Basketball Looks to Extend Win Streak Against #18 Missouri Western

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist is set to host #18 Missouri Western after coming off of a convincing 62-38 victory in their MIAA opener over Northwest Missouri.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer in her second season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU to a 9-18 (4-15 MIAA) record last season. Coach Keizer had spent the past three years as the assistant at Southwest Baptist after playing collegiately for Division I Drake.

Rob Edmisson is in his 4th season as the head coach at Missouri Western. Edmisson holds a career coaching record of 263-71, while having gone 41-40 (22-34 MIAA) during his time at MWSU.

Missouri Western leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 33-19. The two teams split last season, with SBU picking up a 65-62 victory at MWSU, and MWSU returned the favor at SBU 78-65.

Scouting the Bearcats
Southwest Baptist opened up MIAA play with a 62-38 victory over Northwest Missouri, and now stand at 5-1 (1-0 MIAA). The Bearcats are currently riding a three-game win streak. The Bearcats are led in scoring and rebounding by Caylee Richardson who is averaging just short of a double-double at 14.2 ppg and 9.8 rpg. Dilonna Johnson averages 10.2 ppg and a team high 3.2 apg, while Mackenzie Skupa is averaging 8.8 ppg and 5.2 rpg and Megan Rosenbohm is averaging 8.7 ppg.

Scouting the Griffons
Missouri Western opened up MIAA play with a 78-55 road victory over Central Missouri and are 6-0 (1-0 MIAA) on the season. As a team, MWSU is averaging 93.5 ppg while allowing just 55.3 ppg. Missouri Western is led in scoring by LaQuinta Jefferson who is one of four Griffons to average double figures. Jefferson averages 22.0 ppg and a team high 6.5 rpg, while Sarafina Handy averages 16.0 ppg, Miliakere Koyamainavure averages 13.2 ppg, and Julia Torres averages 10.5 ppg.
