SBU Men's Basketball to Host Missouri Western on Saturday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will look to get back on track when they host Missouri Western on Saturday afternoon.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his second season on the SBU bench after coming off of a 11-18 (6-13 MIAA) record last season. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 193-119 across ten seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Brett Weiberg begins his 3rd season as the head coach at Missouri Western. Weiberg boasts a career coaching record of 161-138, including 22-33 (13-25) while at MWSU.

Missouri Western leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 51-29. MWSU claimed a 65-64 victory in Bolivar, and a 71-58 victory at St. Joseph last season.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats are coming off of an 50-73 loss to Northwest Missouri to open up MIAA play and are now 4-2 (0-1 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by Logan Hovey who averages a double-double at 17.5 ppg and a team high 13.0 rpg, while Brian Patterson is also in double-figure socring at 16.5 ppg and 7.0 rpg. Kai Woodfall and Marley Biyendolo both average 7.3 ppg.

Scouting the Griffons
Missouri Western is coming off of a 74-59 loss to Central Missouri to open up MIAA play, and are now 2-5 (0-1 MIAA) on the season. The Griffons are led in scoring by Trey Sampson who averages 12.9 ppg, while Aaron Emmanuel averages 11.8 ppg and a team high 7.8 rpg and 3.8 apg. Mataika Koyamainavure is also in double figures at 10.0 ppg.
