SBU Men to Host Northwest Missouri in MIAA Action on Thursday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist begins MIAA action on Thursday when they host defending MIAA Champion Northwest Missouri.

The Coaches & The All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his second season on the SBU bench after coming off of a 11-18 (6-13 MIAA) record last season. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 193-119 across ten seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Ben McCollum begins his 7th season as the head coach at Northwest Missouri. McCollum holds a career coaching record of 114-64, claiming 3 MIAA regular season championships.

Northwest Missouri leads the all-time series 39-19 against Southwest Baptist. Northwest Missouri claimed a 72-54 victory last year in Bolivar.

Scouting Southwest Baptist
The Bearcats are coming off of an 80-73 victory over Williams Baptist and are now 4-1 on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by Brian Patteson who averages 18.8 ppg and 7.4 rpg, while Logan Hovey averages a double-double at 17.5 ppg and a team high 13.0 rpg. Kai Woodfall averages 8.2 ppg, while Nate Nahirny averages 7.2 ppg.

Scouting Northwest Missouri
Northwest Missouri is coming off of a 83-72 victory over Central Methodist and are now 2-2 on the season. Northwest Missouri is led in scoring and assists by Justin Pitts who averages 20.5 ppg and 4.0 apg. D'Vante Mosby averages close to a double-double at 17.0 ppg and a team high 9.3 rpg.
