Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will hit the road for their first road MIAA contest of the season on Saturday when they travel to Washburn.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Kelsey Keizer in her second season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU to a 9-18 (4-15 MIAA) record last season. Coach Keizer had spent the past three years as the assistant at Southwest Baptist after playing collegiately for Division I Drake.
Ron McHenry is in his 16th season as the head coach at Washburn. McHenry holds a career coaching record of 374-94, including 215-65 in MIAA play.
Washburn leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 36-12. Washburn claimed the only meeting between the two schools last season 80-64.
Scouting the BearcatsSouthwest Baptist fell at home to Nebraska-Kearney 89-75 last time out, and now drop to 5-3 (1-2 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring and rebounding by
Caylee Richardson who is averaging just short of a double-double at 14.1 ppg and 9.5 rpg.
Dilonna Johnson averages 10.3 ppg and a team high 3.8 apg, while
Megan Rosenbohm is averaging 10.6 ppg and
Mackenzie Skupa is averaging 7.4 ppg and 4.3 rpg.
Scouting the IchabodsWashburn comes into the contest against Southwest Baptist with a 5-3 (1-1 MIAA) record on the season. WU is coming off of a 63-57 road victory over Nebraska-Kearney. The Ichabods are led in scoring by Erika Lane who averages 11.9 ppg, the only Ichabod in double-figures, while Erin Dohnalek averages 9.8 ppg and Jayna Smith averages a team high 7.9 rpg and 3.5 apg.
