Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will continue their 8 game homestand to open up the 2015-16 season by hosting #16 Drury in the annual Highway 13 'Cat Fight on Tuesday.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his second season on the SBU bench after coming off of a 11-18 (6-13 MIAA) record last season. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 193-119 across ten seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Steve Hesser begins his 12th season as the head coach at Drury. Hesser holds a career coaching record of 244-88 and ranks among to the top 10 active coaches in win percentage in NCAA-II.
Drury leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 35-18. The Panthers claimed a 79-66 victory over the Bearcats last time out at Drury.
Scouting the BearcatsThe Bearcats are coming off of a 2-0 start to the season with a 83-82 victory over nationally recognized Ouachita Baptist, and a 82-66 victory over Arkansas-Monticello. The Bearcats have two players averaging double-doubles at the start of the season in
Brian Patterson who averages a team high 19.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg, while
Logan Hovey averages 11.0 ppg and a team high 12.0 rpg.
Kai Woodfall also averages double-figures at 11.5 ppg and
Andy Campbell chips in 9.5 ppg, with both hitting a team high 5 three's.
Scouting the PanthersDrury opened up their season with a 83-79 victory over NAIA's Southwestern and are 1-0 on the season. In the contest, the Panthers were led in scoring by Kameron Bundy and Tevin Foster who each had 22 points, while Lucciano Gamiz chipped in 10 points. DU shot only 62.5% from the free throw line, connecting on only 20 of 32 attempts.
