Johnson's 24 Points Leads SBU to 74-67 Victory over Ouachita Baptist

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist University's Women's Basketball continued their strong start to the season with their second win of the season against Ouachita Baptist University Tigers 74-67. With the win, the Bearcats improve to 2-0 on the season.
 
OBU went on an early run of 6-0 before a jump shot by Dilonna Johnson put the Bearcats on the board 3 minutes into the game. Both teams went back and forth with OBU keeping the lead until the end of the quarter when a 3 pointer by Dilonna Johnson tied the game up 17-17. At the beginning of the second quarter, OBU quickly scored putting the Bearcats down 20-17. SBU answered with layups from Dilonna Johnson and Morgan Henderson which gave SBU the first lead of the game at 24-17. For the next few minutes, the lead went back and forth until key shots from Caylee Richardson and Megan Rosenbohm would put the bearcats up 37-34. Dilonna Johnson continued her impressive offensive game with a solo 7-0 run helping the Bearcats head into the half with the lead 44-34.
 
The Bearcats were the first to score in the third quarter with a free-throw from Alex Botkin and a 3-pointer quickly afterward from Dilonna Johnson. A layup by Alex Botkin extended the Bearcat lead 50-36 but OBU quickly scored 5 more points lowering the SBU lead down 9 points. SBU's post players Mackenzie Skupa and Morgan Lucy both scored soon after to bring the Bearcat lead back up to 55-41. SBU would maintain their double-digit lead heading into the fourth quarter 64-48. The fourth quarter remained scoreless until a jumper by Dilonna Johnson and free-throws by Taylor Jackson put the Bearcats up with their highest lead of the game at 68-48. OBU then went on a 12-0 run diminishing SBU's lead 68-60. After a 3-pointer by Sarah Magana, OBU went on another quick run putting them within 4 points (71-67). SBU continued playing impressive defense while quick shots towards the end of the game from Megan Rosenbohm and Sarah Magana ended the game 74-67.
 
Dilonna Johnson ended her incredible offensive game with a team high 24 points while Megan Rosenbohm chipped in 9 points. Caylee Richardson had her first career double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds while also being 7-7 from the free-throw line.
 
SBU's next game is set for November 17th when they host Drury for the Annual Highway 13 Catfight game. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m at the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
