Box Score Photo GalleryBolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats wasted no time on Thursday afternoon in a match against visiting Lindenwood, scoring within the first two minutes of action, as SBU picked up the 3-0 shutout victory over the Lions. The win, which marks the seventh victory in the last eight games for the Bearcats, improves SBU's record to 7-4 (4-1 MIAA) on the season.
Karla Jamison started the scoring early in the contest, when
Elin Hammar sent a corner to the front of the box where Jamison placed the pass into the back lower corner of the goal to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead in only the 2nd minute of action. SBU outshot Lindenwood 14-3 in the first half, and added a second goal with only 36 seconds left in the half. Taylor Rohde sent a corner to the front edge of the box where
Averi Walker headed it far right of the goal, but was picked up by
Brooke Herald who rifled a shot directly off the keepers numbers, and
Whitney Snow took the rebound and sent it over the keepers head and into the back of the net to give SBU a 2-0 lead.
In the 67th minute of action SBU extended their lead to 3-0 when
Caroline Karlsson fed the ball to Jamison on the left side of the box, where Jamison beat the keeper to the far right corner of net, scoring her second goal of the day. The Bearcats pulled the starters with a little over 11 minutes to go in the contest, as SBU cruised to a 3-0 victory. On the afternoon Southwest Baptist outshot Lindenwood 26-8. In goal
Cheyenne Forshey picked up her second straight shutout, collecting 5 saves in the win, while her defense was solid in front of her.
The Bearcats will return to action on Sunday, October 10 when they host #9 Central Missouri. Play is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
