St. Joseph, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team picked up a big 1-0 conference road victory over St. Joseph on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Bearcats improve to 6-4 (3-1 MIAA) on the season.

Karla Jamison got the Bearcats on the scoreboard early in the 10th minute of action when Caroline Karlsson sent a lead pass ahead to Jamison, who beat out the defense and scored her ninth goal of the season. The Bearcats defense was outstanding for the remainder of the half, allowing only four Missouri Western shots as the Bearcats went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. In the second half both defenses were once again on display, as SBU outshot MWSU 9-5 in the second period, but neither team found the back of the net as SBU went on to claim the 1-0 victory. In goal Cheyenne Forshey picked up her first shutout of the season while also collecting 5 saves in the win.

The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, October 8 for their MIAA home opener when they host Lindenwood. Play is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
