Box Score Edmond, Okla. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team fell in a tough overtime contest to Central Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon 3-2. With the loss, the Bearcats drop to 8-8 (5-4 MIAA) on the season.
Central Oklahoma came out shooting in the first half, netting goals in the 4th and 7th minute of action, to take an early 2-0 lead. SBU responded back in the 26th minute when A.C. Pettit sent a free kick to the back left corner of the net to pull SBU within one at 2-1. The Bronchos outshot the Bearcats 11-5 in the first half, as SBU went into the break trailing 2-1.
In the second half the Bearcats tied the score up in the 63rd minute of play.
Karla Jamison took a shot, which the UCO keeper saved, but
Elin Hammar was right there to put the rebound into the net as SBU tied the contest up at 2-2. The score would remain tied through regulation, as the game was sent to overtime to determine the winner. In the eighth minute of overtime, UCO netted the game winning goal as SBU fell 3-2.
The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, October 29 when they host Missouri Southern. The game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
