Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats return home to open up a five-game homestand by hosting Northwest Missouri on Friday and Missouri Western on Saturday.
The CoachesCaira Dortch will begin her second season as the head coach at Southwest Baptist, and holds a career coaching record of 10-20 (5-17 MIAA). Prior to coming to SBU, Dortch previously coached at Drury and Evangel.
Amy Woerth enters her 4th season as the head volleyball coach at Northwest Missouri. Woerth holds a career coaching record of 38-54 including 23-33 in MIAA play.
Marian Carbin enters her 3rd season as the head volleyball coach at Missouri Western. Carbin holds a career coaching record of 38-23 after spending the previous four years as the top assistant at MWSU.
Scouting the BearcatsSouthwest Baptist enters the week with a 3-17 (1-8 MIAA) record on the season.
Taryn Marton leads the way offensively for SBU, averaging 2.58 kills/set, while defensviely
Hannah Blount averages 4.50 digs/set.
Scouting the OpponentsNorthwest Missouri enters the week with a 12-7 (5-4 MIAA) record on the season after coming off of a 3-0 victory over Emporia State. The Bearcats are led offensively by Maddy Bruder who averages 3.70 kills/set. Sarah Dannettell handles the setting duties, averaging 10.59 assists/set, while Aarika Wittenburg leads the backcourt with 4.22 digs/set.
Missouri Western enters the week with a 15-5 (7-2 MIAA) record on the season after coming off of a 3-1 loss to Washburn last time out. The Griffons are led offensively by Jessie Thorup who averages 3.78 kills/set, while Jordan Chohon runs the offense from the setter position, averaging 10.51 assists/set. Defensively Kayla Ruff leads the Griffon backcourt, averaging 4.85 digs/set.
