Box Score Maryville, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team picked up four goals from four different players en route to a 4-1 victory at Northwest Missouri on Friday afternoon. With the win, SBU improves to 5-4 (2-1 MIAA) on the season.
Southwest Baptist was the first to strike in the 20th minute of play when
Whitney Snow sent a pass through the defense to
Caroline Karlsson who beat the keeper to the left post to put the Bearcats up 1-0. SBU added to their lead in the 41st minute when
Elin Hammar placed a corner kick in the middle of the box which Snow headed into the top of the goal to extend the lead to 2-0. SBU would hold strong over the final four minutes of the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
In the second half Northwest Missouri cut SBU's lead in half by scoring off of a penalty kick in the 51st minute. After about 20 minutes of scoreless play,
Karla Jamison knocked in her 8th goal of the season when she won a free ball, and beat the keeper to the far post to put Southwest Baptist up 3-1. SBU added another goal in the 75th minute when
Kate Jamison sent a pass to the middle of the box where
Elin Hammar scored the fourth goal of the game, as SBU cruised to a 4-1 victory. In goal
Cheyenne Forshey picked up the win for SBU, collecting one save on the afternoon.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Sunday, October 4 when they travel to Missouri Western. Play is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. from St. Joseph, Missouri.
