Bolivar, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats continue their four-game home stand when they host Emporia State and Washburn this week.
The CoachesMegan Link will begin her first season as the head coach at Southwest Baptist after taking over a program which advanced to the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons. Link came to SBU after coaching one season at Quincy.
Bryan Sailer enters his 4th season as the head women's soccer coach at Emporia State. Sailer holds a career collegiate coaching record of 75-52-12 and 16-29-10 at Emporia State.
Chris Jones enters his first season as the head women's soccer coach at Washburn. Jones spent the two previous season as an assistant coach at Fort Hays State.
Scouting the BearcatsSouthwest Baptist enters the week 7-5 (3-2 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats split last week, taking down Lindenwood 3-0 before falling to #9 Central Missouri 5-1. SBU is led by
Karla Jamison who has scored 12 goals with 2 assists on the season, while
Caroline Karlsson has netted 4 goals to go along with 5 assists.
Scouting the OpponentsEmporia State enters the game against Southwest Baptist with a 7-5 (3-3 MIAA) record on the season. The Hornets are coming off of a 1-0 double-overtime loss to Missouri Western and have lost two of their last three. Amelie Heun leads the Hornets with 9 goals and 4 assists, while in goal Yadira Rivera has 61 saves and a 1.35 GAA.
Washburn enters the week with a 3-6-3 (2-3-1 MIAA) record after tying Northwest Missouri 1-1 their last time out. Washburn has scored 9 total team goals, with three different players scoring two a piece. In goal Kaitlin Minnich has collected 52 saves and has a 1.09 GAA.
