Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist closes out their two game homestand when they host Central Oklahoma on Saturday.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his first season on the SBU bench after coming to the Bearcats from John Brown University. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 182-106 across nine seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Terry Evans is in his 13th year as the head coach at Central Oklahoma. Evans is 243-114 in his 12 years at UCO, ranking first in win percentage and second in wins in program history.
Central Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 6-4. The Bronchos claimed a 89-72 victory over the Bearcats last season at UCO.
Scouting the BearcatsThe Bearcats have won three in a row and five of their last six after defeating Northeastern State 79-68 on Thursday. SBU now stands at 8-7 (3-3 MIAA) on the season. Southwest Baptist is led in scoring by
Menas Stephens who averages a double-double at 10.9 points per game and a team high 10.0 rebounds per game.
Daymond Cowlah also averages 10.9 points per game to go along with 2.9 assists per game, while
Quinton Smith averages 8.5 points per game,
Derrick Stewart averages 7.8 points per game,
Robert Shaw averages 7.5 points per game, and
Finn Delany averages 7.2 points per game.
Scouting the BronchosCentral Oklahoma is coming off of a 83-78 loss at Missouri Southern and stand at 11-4 (4-2 MIAA) on the season. The Bronchos are led in scoring by Mahlon Jones who averages 14.9 ppg, while Garen Wright (13.4 ppg), Cal Andrews (10.3 ppg), and Seth Heckart (10.1 ppg) all average double-figures for UCO.
