SBU Women's Basketball Drops Contest Against Northeastern State 60-45

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team fell at the hands of Northeastern State 60-45 on Thursday. With the loss, the Bearcats drop to 5-7 (1-4 MIAA) on the season.

Northeastern State opened the contest up with a 9-0 run, and took a ten point lead at 15-5 with 13:54 left in the first half. SBU was able to cut the lead down to four (17-13) off of three's from Dilonna Johnson and Leann Terrill, but NSU responded right back to push the lead back to ten at 23-13. The Bearcats continued to fight and battle, cutting the lead down to three (25-22) with 5:20 left in the first half, but the Riverhawks would extend their lead once more as SBU went into the half trailing 35-26.

In the second half NSU jumped right out and extended their lead to double-digits, pushing the game to a 17 point difference (45-28) with 14:45 left in the contest. The Bearcats were never able to get the deficit back to single digits as SBU ended up falling 60-45.

Dilonna Johnson was the leading scorer for the Bearcats, giving SBU 8 points while Leann Terrill, Megan Rosenbohm, Morgan Lucy, and Natalie O'Keefe all added 6 points. Sarah Magana also pulled down a season high 10 boards in the loss. As a team, SBU shot 36.5% from the field, 29.4% from beyond the arc, and 28.6% from the free throw line.

SBU will be back in action on Saturday, January 10 when they host Central Oklahoma. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
